THE PLASTIKI ON TRACK TO SYDNEY
July 25th, 2010, posted by Shore Crew Tags: Crew, Plastiki, Plastiki daily updateAfter nearly 8,000 nautical miles at sea the Plastiki is finally drawing closer to its final destination of Sydney.
The crew arrived in Australian waters last Sunday and since then have been travelling down the Gold Coast with the help of some brilliant tow boat crews, stopping in Mooloolaba and Southport on the way as they sheltered from incoming weather fronts.

Spirits have been high onboard the Plastiki as the crew make the most of their final days at sea, with David keeping us fully updated over twitter – “Moving slowly down the coast, oddly quiet under tow!” and “Woken 2 a pod of dolphins chasing us! A nice welcome to our first full day in OZ!”
If weather conditions remain stable the boat and crew should be reaching Sydney midday on Monday in Darling Harbour, where the arrival celebrations will be held. So if you’re in the area then make sure you head down to the Sydney’s Australian National Maritime Museum, Darling Harbour and help us celebrate this historical 4 month journey across the expansive Pacific Ocean, on a journey to draw attention to the plight of our oceans and to beat waste! See the flyer below for more information.
For those of you dotted all over the globe, you can keep up to date on live news of the crews arrival through our Twitter, Crew Twitter, Facebook, and of course here on plastiki.com.
